First things first, Morgan is feeling much better now (as of the time of this writing). With that out of the way…
Seeing your kids in pain, any kind of pain, sucks. It sucks worse when you, as a parent, are powerless to make them feel better. That is where we were today.
Thankfully things are looking up.
I will keep this short. Yesterday, Morgan started feeling unwell during breakfast. After an abnormal morning nap, she woke up to a severe headache and a bunch of vomiting, emphasis on a bunch. Her mother took her to the local ER in the afternoon. I met them there.
At the ER, a cat scan and lumbar puncture ruled out Meningitis, so the prognosis was migraine headache.
Today at school, she was very sleepy. However, after noon, she started to experience severe pain in her back, side, and tummy. A quick trip to the pediatrician led to an order for an overnight stay in the hospital.
We are in the room now and have gotten settled in. As I said when I started this post, she is feeling way better. She is not the same girl I just carried out to the car in the fetal position. Did I mention how much I hate seeing my kids in pain?
The doctors want to rule out UTI and appendicitis. The tummy and side pain is likely a result of all the vomiting of yesterday. The back pain and headache is likely a result of the LP done at yesterday’s ER visit.
Bottom line, all is looking up, but I have never seen my daughter in that much pain before. And it scared me.
